At breakfast two beautiful Eagle Rays came and swam under and around
the restaurant. They were feeding and hung around quite a while. Even the Kuna
were excited to see the Rays.
Wow, a beautiful sunrise for our last day.
After a light breakfast we took our final boat trip to Playon Chico to check in for the plane.
Once again, they weighed everything we brought and the no-see-ums
were out in full force at the airport, so we used the insect wipes we had and
Blanco said to wait out on the middle of the bridge as they won’t get us there.
We saw a small barracuda from the bridge. We also watched the sun continue to rise and the Kuna people waking up and starting their day.

Kuna men off to work
This guy walked by and "poked" Greg on the arm. Possibly he wanted his photo taken.
The plane was late, but soon we were able to get on board.
Everyone said their warm goodbyes. It was a different plane this time (3 less
seats). Again, we got some great views from the plane.

We then were checked in at the “secure” area of the Albrook
Airport. The drug dog came and inspected everyone’s luggage before we could
take the bags. Then, we were weighed again and anyone that went over the weight
limit (which they totaled the whole amount for the two of us so all checked and
carryon were fine as long as all the bags didn’t weight more than required. One
couple went over and had to pay a few dollars. (like $2 or $3…no biggie) Then,
we were ready to exit and they x-rayed the bags and we walked the short
distance to the parking garage. We stopped for breakfast at McDonalds for a
quick breakfast partway home.
It was a great few days relaxing, good snorkeling and the
Kuna people are warm and friendly. A very nice way to spend Greg’s 60th
birthday! His birthday was actually on Saturday the 6th, but we tend to avoid
travel here on weekends. We did go out to dinner at Caracoles on his birthday
and we had Philly Steak sandwich and ribs with garlic mashed that we shared. Yum!
We made brownie sundaes at home for dessert. Now it’s back on “the diet”.
As a side note, Greg managed to get worms in the bottom of
one of his feet. It probably was due to the sickly dog doing his business in
the sand and we are walking on it. This is the second time that he has had them.
The other time was a few years ago somewhere in the Caribbean. That time it was
only one and this time there are at least 3 or 4. They can take a couple of
months to “go away”. These really are more annoying as they are burning and
itching and hard for him to walk since they are in the bottom of his foot right
on the arch. Today, he went to the pharmacy to get a one-time pill that is supposed
to kill them and speed up the healing process. No doctor visit needed and no
prescription needed. It cost $2.50 and when we priced it online in the States,
the pill would have cost $35.00. Yikes! Plus, he would have had to see a doctor
to get a prescription. (more time and cost)
ouch!
He is doing a bit better today. (a week later)
Here is a link to the snorkel video Greg put together.
Now to work on our next adventure. (we aren't booked yet)
