sights along the way to Gamboa
Captain Carl took us on a Monkey Island tour where we saw White-faced Capuchin Monkeys, Howler Monkeys and Geoffrey’s Tamarins aka Mono Titi. He also gives a nice tour and information of that side of the canal. We fed peanuts to the Capuchins and later mashed banana on our fingers to the Mono Titi.

After lunch we went up top to hold his boa
if you wanted to. We have done that before and Scott went first. Then he
volunteered Sonya by giving her a little push. So, she conquered another fear
on this trip. After everyone who wanted to held the boa we had a choice of
going fishing for Peacock Bass or kayaking to a waterfall. Last time when Dad
was here we did the fishing and caught quite a few fish even though we were
only out for an hour. This time, the kids chose kayaking. It was a lot of fun
and the way to get to the waterfall was through a very narrow passageway that
was too tight to use the paddles so we pulled ourselves through with our hands.
We went ashore and anyone who wanted to could climb the waterfall and jump into
the water or just swim or just hang out. Scott climbed and jumped in twice.

Our time was up and we got back in the
kayaks and returned by the same way we came. Back on the houseboat we had some
cold drinks and all too soon it was time to leave. We were returned by boat
back to the public boat dock.

We drove the short distance to the resort and
checked in. We showed them around the resort and made reservations for the
night safari for after dinner.

We got cleaned up for dinner and for the
first time there was no buffet for dinner. I think there weren’t enough people
staying there to justify putting out that much food. They offered us anything
off of their 2 menus and the food was quite good.
We had some cold drinks at the Monkey Bar enjoying the beautiful view.
The night safari was pretty good. We saw 2
sloths pretty close up and a grey fox. Then, it was off to bed for hiking in
the morning.
