Sea Day - Jan 9

Since I am trying to rest my leg in hopes it will be healed before we hit our next port in 3 days, after breakfast instead of walking the track we hung out by the pool and read. Then, it was off to lunch. We sat with an interesting man traveling with his adult daughter who has spent much of his life traveling and many trips for the sole purpose of birding. So, he was very interesting to talk to. His daughter has traveled a lot as well and we always enjoy hearing about other people’s travels. One other couple at the table was from Florida and it was nice to converse with them as well.

After lunch we spent the afternoon in the cabin catching up on pictures and the blog. Greg is working on taxes.

We got caught up in it and were a bit late for dinner. We were joined by another couple from Alabama that had late seating and they switched to early and filled our 2 vacant seats. The husband and Greg had a lot in common with their careers. Plus, 3 of the men at the table were Navy guys. Those 2 couples are on until we reach Los Angeles. Then, we will get 4 new people. The other couple at our table is on for the full world cruise and they are a very nice couple.

The entertainment tonight was Ric Steele a guitarist and vocalist. He sang older country songs and really was very entertaining and told lots of personal stories. Before the show, he came around and shook everyone’s hand in the audience.

We normally don’t take the elevators to get more exercise by taking the stairs, but with my leg/back we have been taking the elevators. It has to get better SOON!

Tomorrow the Panama Canal. Since we have seen it from all angles from living in Panama for 3 and a half years and got up in the dark on our first trip through the canal to watch the sunrise and the first entry into the locks and spent all day on deck then, it’s not important for us to be up at the crack of dawn (before actually) tomorrow. Still, it will be a bit bittersweet going through it and not being able to stop and visit friends. We will be waving at you from the ship!
