We left Florida for St. Mary’s, Georgia and it started out a
nice sunny morning with me following behind with the Toad. (oh wait, isn’t it
just a car at this point?) Greg should get the cause of why the battery drained
before we take off for the next stop.
After we left the St. Augustine area where we stopped at the
Flying J for diesel and to have lunch, it started to rain. Then it started to
pour buckets. Add in the road construction on I-95 and it was a mess.
Eventually we made it to Jacksonville area and crossed a bridge and then say
signs that we were leaving Florida and we were now in Georgia. Lots of good
photo ops missed due to the weather and me driving. Ah well. I just kept saying
to myself that I hoped the rain would stop before we got to the RV Park to get
set up.
In case you were curious what the coach looks like with the slides in for travel
We got to the A Big Wheel RV Park in St. Mary’s, Georgia (38
miles from Jacksonville, FL) and there was no rain. In fact, the lady that came
out said to hurry and get set up before it rained and we could go check in with
her later. She told us to take either space 1 or 2. It sprinkled just a bit,
but no real rain. Phew! Upon arrival, we were greeted by the site of a rooster
having his way with a chicken. Then, a black cat with white paws came and
greeted us. It’s the first site that has been more “in the woods” and has a
nice feel. No cable or internet/cell service, but it’s a nice spot. I managed
to get the WIFI to work, but Greg was unable to get on. (guess I hogged it all)
The Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay is here. The Submarine
Base is the U.S. Atlantic Fleet's home port for U.S. Navy Fleet ballistic
missile nuclear submarines armed with Trident missile nuclear weapons. This
submarine base covers about 16,000 acres of land, of which 4,000 acres are
protected wetlands.

submarine forces' 100th anniversary.
We have 3 days planned here.
We headed out to dinner at River Café in the Historic
District of St. Mary’s on the river. The St Mary’s River, Crooked River State
Park and Cumberland Island are located in the area.

The restaurant was very good with a beautiful view of the
St. Mary’s River. After dinner, we went for a walk on the Riverfront and sat
and watched the water while sitting in “porch swings” along the water. We
walked around the historic area before going back to the RV Park. There were a
lot of Blue Jays around our RV site.

Tomorrow, we visit the Crooked River State Park....
I couldn't believe you have more RV trouble, but glad it is fixed as of this post. At least you get to do some sightseeing.
