The Battery & White Point Garden - Charleston, SC

Monday, the 28th we had a couple of errands to run and hoped to get done before it started raining. The rain was holding off so we decided to check out the Battery & White Point Garden. Very nice area, but it was windy and starting to rain so we didn't get to walk the Battery which is a landmark defensive seawall and promenade. The Ashley & Cooper Rivers meet here to form Charleston harbor. It rained when we visited the Waterfront Park area a few days ago so we weren't able to walk it then either.

I managed to grab a few photos of mainly antebellum homes  (pre-civil war) from the car as we drove to lunch. It was raining softly at this point.

We grabbed some lunch at Leon’s Oyster Shop. The rain picked up while we were eating. I had a fried chicken sandwich with slaw, duke’s mayo, bread and butter pickles on it. It came with a side of an Asian slaw tossed with fish sauce. They use a brown pepper-laced batter finished with honey and hot sauce on the chicken. Quite tasty. Greg had shrimp that were also very tasty. We had a basket of their hushpuppies with honey butter.

It was a tasty lunch and we headed home and did make it before it started to pour. It has rained on and off all day with some winds, but nothing like Houston for sure.
If the weather clears as it is predicted we will visit Magnolia Plantation tomorrow.
