Sea Day

Friday March 23

We didn't win at Bingo.

We both spent a large part of the day packing.

It's a formal night and the Captain had a farewell cocktail party.

The entertainment was a production show called Encore. We hadn't seen it before and it was quite good. A lot of opera and very elaborate costumes and sets. Troy Thirdgill also had a second show in the Explorers Lounge and it was standing room only.

One more sea day before the end......

I want to apologize to everyone that I have not returned emails to. For over 2 weeks I've been so sick that I spend most of my free time sleeping and the rest trying to stay on top of everything happening with Dad. I promise one we get home and have reliable internet, I touch base with everyone.

Here are some photos of our cabin towards the end. I collect new magnets and if we have been there before I bring the ones I bought last time. We have a scratch off map that we started in 2017 and we scratch off each country as we visit it.

Aruba

Thursday March 22

This is our 6th time here and we’ve seen the island by land and by sea. (many snorkel trips, Island tours, just knocking around and the horseback riding tour that didn’t kick off the 2017 world cruise on a positive note.)

We wanted to snorkel here, but it seemed silly to take our snorkel gear for just 1 port so we planned to just wing it. I was still feeing pretty awful so good thing we didn't have anything planned here.

We got off the ship around 9:00 or so and planned to just wander. We saw lots of iguanas along the way. One in particular was a beautiful color of turquoise and it had spots on it. We saw quite a few birds as well.

 Royal Tern

 Black-faced Grassquit
 Common Ground Dove
 Eared Dove
 Bananaquit

For lunch we has spotted a Dutch Pancake House so we returned there to eat. Aruba is Dutch and their pancakes (think crepes) were pretty good. The desert one was really good with Nutella and fresh strawberries and bananas on it.

I was pretty worn out already so we returned to the ship and were back onboard by 2:00. I spent the next 3 hours returning emails and calls to Scott, Bud and Dad. Dad had been moved from the rehab center to Humboldt Hospital and then was moved to Fort Dodge Hospital. I called Dad and Bud was there so I spoke with him. Scott is going Saturday and we are hoping that we can fly to Iowa on the following Thursday.

The show tonight was a comedian names Troy Thirdgill and we have seen him before. He had some of the same material and some new stuff. He is always a crowd favorite.

Well, we now have 2 more sea days until we reach Fort Lauderdale and the end of this 60 day voyage.
