Reed Bingham State Park - Adel, GA - Day 2

We took Sunday and Monday off. (cold & windy) We did do some grocery and clothes shopping on Monday. I spent some time making sure I had all of our South America tours lined up. I had one that still needed 2 to 4 more people so, I posted on our roll call on Cruise Critic and promptly filled it.
Happy Halloween!

Tuesday, the 31st we waited for it to warm up a bit before heading out to do some birding at Reed Bingham State Park again. We did find that more of the trails had been cleared. We had more bird activity, but didn’t see anything new. Lots of the usual guys. Woodpeckers, Titmice, Blue Jays, Chickadees and wrens. Not a lot of photos today, but it was a lovely warm day and we had a great day out.

Coming back from lunch we drove past a turkey. We parked at the lake and went back to try and find it. He was still there. In fact, we discovered we didn’t need to sneak up on it at all since it didn’t try to run away. In fact, I walked right up to him. Then, we went to walk to the bridge and he started to follow me. I stopped in the middle of the street and he came right up to me again and just squatted down. He must be a domestic turkey, perhaps belonging to one of the houses nearby since wild turkeys waste no time disappearing into the woods.  He reminded me of the turkeys we had growing up (though ours were females). They were more like pets and we named them after the Andrew Sisters. (Patty, Maxene & LaVerne.) I don’t think we ever ate them, they must have died of old age. We did hear the owls again in the afternoon.

Forgot to mention that the one thing this RV park has is pecan trees. Tons of them and lots of nuts on the ground. We tasted one and they are really good. We have noticed many people here picking up lots of them.

Tomorrow we are headed to Suwannee Hideaway Campground in Old Town, Florida.

Thunderbirds Air Show - Moody Air Force Base, GA

Saturday October 28th we attended the Air Show at Moody Air Force Base. Luckily, it was still a beautiful sunny day (high of 80*) since last night a cold front came through and this morning is in the 40's. So far it has moved up from 44* to 46*. Yikes! Needless to say I'm homesick for Panama!

On that note, I really do miss quite a lot in Panama. (good friends, year-round 80's, Neo-tropical birds, monkeys, sloths, the simpler life style and the list goes on.) Sometimes I still have the urge to push a shopping cart to the back of the line instead of pushing it forward. (yeah, makes no sense to do that, but that's what they do) It's still hard to go to Subway and order it in English. The other day I just blanked trying to find the English words for the bread choice. Odd since I never really spoke a lot of Spanish there, but always ordered my sub in Spanish. (avena dulce de seis, jamon, no queso, lechuga, pepino, acetuna & salsa mostaza dulce. Ya!) Honey oat, ham no cheeses, lettuce, cucumber, black olives and honey mustard sauce. Done!

OK, back to the here and now....

Not a lot of text today, but many photos of the air show. We didn't bring our chairs today since on the website it said no large items to be brought in. (small purses only) Well, despite Greg being told he could bring in his camera but not the bag, we saw lots of chairs in bags that they didn't even x-ray. There were wagons full of stuff brought in. Interesting set of rules. So, we were regretting not tossing them in the trunk and we would have had them after we found out those were OK. We lived......

Tomorrow, a much needed day off and this girl isn't going to be outside in 40* weather. (I didn't pack many warm clothes--which I will do next year)
