Devil's Island (Isle Royale), French Guiana & Sea Day

Friday February 2

Today was scenic cruising around the 3 Islands of French Guiana. I had my binoculars and could see some of the buildings on the islands. We had great views from our balcony.

After cruising around we anchored and a pilot came aboard and then we sent a tender boat to pick up a couple of the locals to bring a few things on the ship and set up a market. They did something similar on the 2013 World Cruise from Pitcairn Island. This one however was not planned very well. They had 1 small table in the corner out by the pool and it was a madhouse. They finally said they would move the table and make a queque to try and help organize the chaos. People got to the front of the line only to find out they needed real cash (not your cruise card) to pay for anything. I brought cash so I was fine. People kept trying to cut the line and it got ugly for a while. Yikes! Then, there was a second line to get a certificate with a passport stamp of the island on it. That took forever! The Captain stayed an extra hour and a half so people could get through the lines. It’s not their first visit here, so not sure why it was such a surprise it was so crowded.

They scheduled Bingo at noon today. We went to that and then had lunch in the dining room. Neither of us won....

This afternoon we are getting caught up on photos and other things. Pictures will take me a while, so be patient, I’ll try to get them done in the next 2 sea days. (so much for that theory since my computer wigged out)

The entertainment tonight as Stephan Kane a "piano showman".
