September 5
Well, we woke to pouring rain and it persisted most of the
day. That was just the start of the bad news for the day. When it was time to
hook up the car to tow, Greg noticed that the whole “grill area” on the car
that has all the connections for towing was loose. If that whole thing pulled off, the car
would be left behind us taking off in who knows what direction. So, I had to
drive the car and Greg drove the coach for the 5 hour drive (with 2 diesel
stops) to Neosho. (pronounced knee-OH-show) It’s close to Joplin. The first Flying J stop was in Peculiar, Missouri. Peculiar, pretty well summed up our day.....
Greg called about the problem and was told the car shouldn't be towed
and wasn’t sure what the problem might be other than perhaps the dealer (La
Mesa RV) might have forgotten to use Loctite or whatever they should have used
when they installed the tow stuff. Seriously? Now, we have to find someplace
that can hopefully fix it in a timely manner or I will be driving it until we
get back to Florida. We are only here for 1 day so we will wait until our next
stop or Memphis if we can get in somewhere for repair or replacement.
Yep, things like this make us sure we really want to sell
this thing. There are lots of other little things that need repair, but we are
waiting until we get to Florida. (they don’t hinder driving like the towing
equipment does)
So, pouring rain and no photos today. Maybe tomorrow. It’s a
cute park. Small, but nice pull-throughs and the owner is really nice. It is
set up like a western town with a stage coach out front. There are 2 short rows here, with one row pretty well full with long term people and the pull-throughs in our row is reserved for those of us passing through.

We woke to a sunny day which was a pleasant surprise since it was predicted to rain all day. Before we drove to Oklahoma Greg called an RV dealership that specializes in setting up the tow equipment and just to look at it, the soonest appointment was 5 weeks from today.
We didn't have the time to explore Oklahoma since it would have taken us way out of the way in the wrong direction for heading back to Florida, so we planned just to take a short trip across the boarder to "tick the box". Lots of Casino's there and many were quite large and beautiful hotels.
We drove to the small town of Miami and had some lunch before returning by a different route home that took us through a part of Kansas and then back to Missouri. We are staying very close to the 3 state border. They even have a monument to mark it.

Miami is on Route 66
got the Kansas sign I missed
and the Missouri sign since there wasn't one when we visited St. Louis on our way out

After we got back home, Greg called a body shop in Russellville, Arkansas where we are staying for 5 nights and they put us in first thing in the morning on Monday to look at it. Depending on what is wrong and if they can fix it quickly we will have it done. If not, we'll just "double drive" our way back to Florida. UGH!
As I type this the rain finally hit us. Hopefully, we aren't driving again in the rain tomorrow.
Since it has been a pretty laid back stop, I have had time to work on the couple of remaining tours I hadn't booked yet for the world cruise. The only thing left now is to reserve rental cars for Honolulu and Maui.
Now, for 4 days/5nights in Russellville, Arkansas for the Ozarks and other nature parks and hopefully, get the car fixed for towing.
Well it sounds like you were able to line things up and hit the tri-states.
