Birding with Valera & Charley

We were introduced to a nice couple by Susan at Picasso a couple of weeks ago since we have a mutual interest in birding. They are from Maine and here checking out Panama for possibly living here for a couple of years. We took them to the Eugene Eisenmann trail where we hike quite often. Luckily, a Lance-tailed Manakin was quite cooperative and sat still for them to get a good look at it. Then we took them to a small local pond and saw quite a few birds and a caiman.

They were going to El Valle for a few days and invited us to come up for the day for some birding. We went up last Friday and took them to a few of our favorite spots and were rewarded with seeing at least 47 different types of birds. Only 3 or maybe 4 were new for us, but we did see a couple of really interesting ones and got some better photos of some that we have seen before.

It was an enjoyable day and we did see a ton of birds that day with the company of a wonderful couple. I have added the album of our 2 walks to my Picasa site.

Almost done with my April post, but may be another day or 2 to get it posted.....it's been a busy month and we are trying to prepare for our trip to Arizona in just a few days.
