Baseball, Fireworks & Nightmare on RV Street Continues

Since I have no fun travels to report I have my log of the progress or more to the point, lack of progress on the RV. (feel free to skip over it to get to photos....)
June 26: Phone call today was to La Mesa to see what the plan is. (since they didn’t return the call on Firday) They still haven’t gotten with the body shop people to see when they can do their part in conjunction with the regular techs in the service department. Then, we talked about the washer and he said he didn’t think anyone would pay to have it removed and reinstalled again to do the work that is needed. WTH? We’ll wait to see if that is truly the case before calling Whirlpool on that.

June 27: I called Whirlpool to let them know our experience with Brandt’s Appliance. Our service advisor from La Mesa called and offered a very nice solution for the roof of our coach. He said he could send a tech here to the RV Resort and from here the tech could talk to the Fleetwood tech. That way we don’t have to stow everything and ready the coach to roll just to come in for the phone call. Nice touch! However, he said we had to wait for the body shop to call us to set that appointment up. (clock is ticking….) He also said that he would call Brandt’s and lean on them to pay for the uninstall & reinstall of the washer & dryer since they didn’t fix it right in the first place. I’m waiting to hear how that goes and if they refuse, I will make another call to Whirlpool.

Had our first electrical storm experience in the RV  last night. High winds and even some hail with all of the rain. Quite an experience in the RV…..

June 30: After no response from anyone RV related. Greg called again to see when they are coming out. We did get a call back from the body shop scheduling a time to come out to estimate the work, which prompted Greg to ask you mean to have a Fleetwood tech on the phone while you are assessing it as they said that was what needed to happen. So. Greg told him to double check with our service advisor to make sure we are all on the same page and then we can schedule it. Right now, he made it for July 5th.

July 4: We went to the baseball game at First Data Field and watched the St Lucie Mets play the Charlotte Stone Crabs. Wow, hot and sunny and our seats faced right into the sun until it finely set. Tim Tebow landed a spot on the Mets farm team, so the local area is excited about it. It looked grim at first with a 6 to 1 lead by the Crabs, but finally the Mets got some runs and tied it up. It went into an extra inning and the crabs finally broke the tie for the win. The fireworks was billed as the best on the Treasure Coast. It was a pretty good display. It was the first fireworks we have seen on the 4th of July in the States since 1012. It was a late night, but the easy 5 minute drive home was nice! I’d like to say we ate hot dogs and drank beer, but Sonny’s BBQ pulled pork sandwiches called out to us. It was a nice break from RV issues.

July 5: Our appointment with the La Mesa’s Body shop visit didn’t happen. He called an hour after the appointment time to say he was running late and didn’t have time to come today. When asked if he had talked to our Service Advisor as was discussed when we made the appointment, he said he hadn’t. An earlier conversation this morning with the Service Advisor solved the washer issue. Fleetwood is going to pay for the labor and La Mesa is going to require that the Whirlpool tech makes sure it works before and after it is reinstalled even if it takes a second service call for the tech to come back later in the day. We go in for that on Wednesday next week. He said that the work on the roof and the awning needs to start in the body shop and then they can deal with how to reinstall the awning with Fleetwood and La Mesa working in tandem via phone. No time set to do that yet. We are hoping we can drop it off Monday and hopefully get it back before the weekend. At least that’s the pipe dream we have.

July 6:  Today we got a call from Fleetwood spurred by the letter of issues that was required within a certain amount of time in case this whole thing really goes South. One went to Fleetwood and the other to La Mesa. She took down the timeline of events and said she would contact La Mesa.

I did call the appliance repair company to see if La Mesa had scheduled them yet. They had not. They said the only call they had received was from La Mesa to discuss who’s paying to do the job right the second time around. I told them we had an appointment with La Mesa and made one with the appliance company. They said they would call La Mesa to coordinate the timing. The day came and went with no return call from La Mesa regarding anything.
July 7: Phone calls were made to La Mesa to see what's up. In the afternoon the body shop called and says he's coming out Monday. When asked once they do get a fix that works for them & Fleetwood how soon could the work start. He wasn't sure of the schedule, but week after next probably.
So, we are in a wait and see mode over the weekend. Meanwhile, we do our grocery shopping a little at a time not to be stuck with food that will spoil should they not keep the coach plugged into electric. Same issue with booking this space at the park. We started out booking 3 days at a time and then went to a week at a time and we keep renewing trying to guess when we might have to take it in to La Mesa.
Since I have no new and exciting places to post, here are some more shots around the park. (We go for walks twice a day.) It's hard to even go do some fun things around the area since it has rained a LOT since we have been here.

many sites are wrapped up for the summer

There are very few actual people staying here this time of year. Less than a dozen for sure. Many sites are empty, others have RV's sitting there plugged in, but they are up North for the summer. There is one couple here that rides around in their golf cart with their cockatoo. Too cute!

must be a lot of constipated dogs here
there are 2 Bark Parks where they can "go".

One of these days we will be able to hit the road and then decide if this RV thing is for us. Right now we are having our doubts.....

  1. Am sitting on the edge of my seat checking your blog every day to see if you are on the road yet. Being intrigued with RV life I have watched more YouTube hours on this than I'd like to admit and It seems that what you are experiencing is more the norm than unusual. You'd think that for what you pay for a new Class A you wouldn't be fixing things for 6 months or a year!! Good luck with it. You sort of have to stay the course now because of the depreciation factor. Once you get on the road you'll be having fun and adventure.
