Sea Day

Thursday January 25     Sea Day & Cruise Critic Meet & Greet

There was a huge turnout for the Cruise Critic Meet & Greet and the Captain even stopped by. We nearly filled the Wheelhouse Bar. I found a few of the people we have tours with. One of them (Trish) was talking to another couple who asked her “how do we know what tours we are on?” She was trying to answer them, but they didn’t know which port it was or what the tour was. All he knew was that he made a $10 down payment to a tour operator. Trish turns to me and says “I don’t know Annette, what would you tell them?” (thanks, Trish) Greg and I tried to help them, but they didn’t seem to know which port it was or the tour name. While many of us set up private tours, quite a few of the ports had tour companies that wanted people to contact them directly and they would put the tours together. So, even though someone may have posted the tour on Cruise Critic to be helpful and to fill the tours as they won’t run unless they got a minimum, it wasn’t your “private tour”. Once you made contact and made any deposits they may have required, they then sent you the information on where to meet them on the pier for the tour. I felt bad for them, but we sure couldn’t find a way to help them. He insisted they never exchanged any emails with the tour operator. If you made a PayPal payment, it was done by email and the operator acknowledged receiving the payment.
We went to Bingo and neither of us won.
Then, it was off to lunch which took a couple of hours. It became clear they were still treating things like it’s a “sick ship”. No salt and pepper on the tables. They come around with tongs and put a roll on your bread plate. As is becoming the norm on quite a few cruise ships, there are sinks outside of the buffet area for every guest to wash their hands before entering. Yes, someone stands there to make sure you do. Only 3 sinks as you enter the buffet area, so that is time consuming. You can't just "pop in" for a glass of ice or something unless you "scrub up" first.
As we walk about the ship we have seen quite a few people that we have met on previous cruises on Princess.

After dinner we went to the evening show in the main show lounge which was a fabulous singer, Lovena B. Fox. and then a new show by Scott Harris in the Explorer's Lounge.

One more relaxing Sea Day....

  1. Dying to know if you met that person who commented on CC? Your room sounds good. I hope our ship has the "new" beds. The entertainment seems like it has been good so far.
