Pensacola RV Park & Seafood Festival - Pensacola, Florida

September 29

Wow, a nice sunny day! We left Louisiana and passed through Mississippi and then Alabama before crossing into Florida’s panhandle.

Mobile has 2 tunnels. The original tunnel, the Bankhead, opened in 1941 but when I-10 passed through Mobile, the George C. Wallace Tunnel was built to move three times as many cars through, to meet demand (which marked the end of the toll). Very cool tunnel that’s 40 feet below the Mobile River.

Today we went to the last day of the Pensacola Seafood Festival. Nice hot sunny day. We have been to quite a few in Central and South Florida and one in particular was always really good. This one was OK, but not wow. They had some arts and crafts and they had a couple of bands in the afternoon. Much of the food looked more like "fair food" instead of local restaurants putting out great food.

 YUM!
if it had been hot and fresh it would have been good

I opted for the coconut shrimp after trying a sample shrimp that was hot and tasty, but the one I got had been cooked a long time ago and was cold and not all that good. Greg chose well at a different stand that was from a local restaurant and while the description didn't sound great to me, OMG was it flavorful. So good, we plan to go to the restaurant and get some in the next couple of days.
After the music we got some gelato which was good and got a bag of Kettle Korn to bring home. Sadly, it was really bad Kettle Korn. It's not Dad's recipe for sure.

Tomorrow, we are off to the Naval Museum.
