Reed Bingham State Park - Adel, GA - Day 2

We took Sunday and Monday off. (cold & windy) We did do some grocery and clothes shopping on Monday. I spent some time making sure I had all of our South America tours lined up. I had one that still needed 2 to 4 more people so, I posted on our roll call on Cruise Critic and promptly filled it.
Happy Halloween!

Tuesday, the 31st we waited for it to warm up a bit before heading out to do some birding at Reed Bingham State Park again. We did find that more of the trails had been cleared. We had more bird activity, but didn’t see anything new. Lots of the usual guys. Woodpeckers, Titmice, Blue Jays, Chickadees and wrens. Not a lot of photos today, but it was a lovely warm day and we had a great day out.

Coming back from lunch we drove past a turkey. We parked at the lake and went back to try and find it. He was still there. In fact, we discovered we didn’t need to sneak up on it at all since it didn’t try to run away. In fact, I walked right up to him. Then, we went to walk to the bridge and he started to follow me. I stopped in the middle of the street and he came right up to me again and just squatted down. He must be a domestic turkey, perhaps belonging to one of the houses nearby since wild turkeys waste no time disappearing into the woods.  He reminded me of the turkeys we had growing up (though ours were females). They were more like pets and we named them after the Andrew Sisters. (Patty, Maxene & LaVerne.) I don’t think we ever ate them, they must have died of old age. We did hear the owls again in the afternoon.

Forgot to mention that the one thing this RV park has is pecan trees. Tons of them and lots of nuts on the ground. We tasted one and they are really good. We have noticed many people here picking up lots of them.

Tomorrow we are headed to Suwannee Hideaway Campground in Old Town, Florida.
