June 8
We never found Cypress Nature Park. The Google Maps took us
to some abandoned apartments. Yikes! We drove around the area that it showed on
the map, but there were no entrances anywhere or a hint that there was a Nature
Park.
So, we gave up and headed to Lagoon Park Trail which was nice despite on
one part of the trail we were the main course on an all you can eat buffet for
the mosquitos.
It was a “blue” day. We saw Bluebirds, Blue Jays and Indigo
Buntings. It wasn’t a large park but had a few trails and we spent the morning
hiking around.

It was another hot and steamy day, but at least we had some
areas of shade
We had lunch at Mrs. B’s Homecooking. It was served from a
buffet table and you tell them the main course you want and then choose sides
and if you want a roll or corn bread. It was very good, but oh so filling!
Southern comfort food can be quite rib-sticking. (or gut building)
Since we had more time on our hands after not getting to
hike at the Cypress Nature Park and we were downtown, we went to find the Civil
Rights Memorial & Museum. It was next to the interesting houses we saw yesterday.
It’s a small museum, but very interesting. It is a memorial to 41 people who
died in the struggle for the equal and integrated treatment of all people,
regardless of race, during the 1954-1968 civil rights movement.

We were home early to get ready to travel tomorrow to
Huntsville, Alabama.
It gave us time to deal with some issues with Dad’s estate.
Seems, I canceled what seemed like his cell phone company. It was, but we got
a past due bill for the same company with a different account number. Guess
when he got a new phone he didn’t cancel out the other one. So, I dealt with
that. We also finally have a resolution to some insurance/exterior contractor dispute.
There have been over 40 emails and a few phone calls to try to straighten out that
mess. The contracting company sent a bill for more money, but had no documentation
for the added amount. I contacted the insurance company since if it was
legitimate, they should be the ones paying; not Dad/us. I’m not sure why it was
so hard for them to produce the supporting documents, but finally the owner of
the company got involved and produced the supporting documents. So, insurance
will pay and since there were things not completed on Dad’s house, they
deducted those items. We and the insurance company are relieved that this insanity
will finally come to an end. We both think there is something “hinky” but
agreed to pay it. Hopefully, there won’t be any new surprises.
Greg worked on booking the RV stays for Indiana and Illinois
and we already have the Wisconsin Dells booked for the week over the 4th
of July. Hard to get into some places around holidays, so we anchored that
first and now have all of the middle sites booked. After Huntsville we have a
week in the Nashville area. We can visit Mammoth Caves from there as well. Plus,
there are Nature Parks that look good.
On the move again……
