June 10
On the way to the Nature Trail we passed by Redstone Arsenal (which is HUGE) and stopped for photos outside of Davidson Center for Space Exploration. We
have toured NASA in Titusville, FL a few times, so we took a pass on visiting
this today.

Then, we went by where Greg used to come for work.
The Madison County Nature Trail (aka Green Mountain Nature
Trail) is a 72-acre park and is located above the surrounding communities atop
Green Mountain in southeast Huntsville. A 1.5-mile trail surrounds 17-acre Sky
Lake. It was a pretty park and lots of families were out enjoying the great
weather. The trail goes around the Lake, but several smaller trails meander
through the forest as well.

We spent a few hours here and then went to find lunch. My
first 2 choices were closed for Sunday and Monday. So, we had a gelato / pizza
place we were going to go for gelato later and we opted to have lunch there
too. Pizza was pretty good. The gelato didn’t look appealing, so we skipped
that.
Next, we went to the Botanical Gardens which were quite
beautiful. They were also having a special display of Sculptures of Mythical
Creatures. We walked around there for a couple of hours and stopped for ice
cream and cold drinks at their café. It was a really nice botanical gardens and
they had a butterfly enclosure which was nice, but not a lot of variety of
butterflies.
