Absaroka Bay Campground - Cody, Wyoming

August 1

The RV park had an earlier than usual checkout time. We had to be gone by 10:30. We had a short drive to the next park in Cody, so we had hoped to get a later start. Ah well, we drove extra slow.

We could tell we were gaining in elevation as we made the trip. My ears popped a couple of times. While far away, this area is experiencing smoke from the fires from Yosemite. It was still a pretty drive with some dramatic views of the Beartooth and Absaroka Mountains.

It’s another fairly small park so we walked around the neighborhood behind the RV Park. We came across 2 young Mule Deer in the front yard of one of the houses. They were not skittish and one even laid down and watched us go by.

very young Mule Deer - perhaps they have lost their mother

It’ll be early to bed for a 5:00 wake-up tomorrow morning to make the drive to Yellowstone National Park. We are around an hour away. Cody, is a touristy town with the emphasis on Buffalo Bill Cody. We will spend at least a day exploring the sites here at the end of our stay.

The blog will be behind since we will have some long days over the next 4 or 5 days.
