KOA Yankton Missouri River Kampground - Yankton, South Dakota

August 24
We had a pretty sunny day for moving on to our next stop. We noticed an interesting (and a bit disturbing) thing on a hill with tall horns. I Googled what the heck is that weird sculpture thing between Mitchell and Yankton on I-90 and it popped right up.

"Porter Sculpture Park - Montrose, South Dakota - Wayne Porter makes art from old farm equipment, cement mixers, and anything else that he could get his hands on." I could see more stuff on the hill of the prairie grass pasture, but we were flying by in the coach. I did get one photo snapped.

This is the first KOA we have stayed at. We have purposely avoided them as they cater to families. In some of these areas that really are generally just a stopover on the way to somewhere else, there aren’t often many choices. With kids back in school in this area it is pretty quiet here. It’s a large RV park and it’s pretty empty. (fine by us)

We are here for 4 nights before moving on to a short stay in Nebraska. Satellite won’t work here and there were no local channels, but the office rents cable boxes so we got one of those for our stay. Our phones once again get no signal here, luckily the park has WIFI and it has worked well for watching TV and surfing the net.  T-Mobile works great all around the world and in the Southeast, but has little to no coverage in the Midwest and the West.

We went out for our evening walk, but the mosquitos were so bad we cut it short.

Tomorrow we are headed to a park for some hiking and birding.
