Sea Day – January 18

Sea Day – January 18

It didn’t get as rough as the Captain had predicted, but it is definitely cooler and windier. I walked the track, but with long leggings and a sweatshirt. We hugged the coastline of Mexico and there were tons of whales today. Mostly mothers with a baby. Lots of blows and a few leaping out of the water making big splashes. Most of those were far out, but lots of the blows were quite close with a bit of the whales coming out of the water. We also saw 3 dolphins. Makes walking the track way more fun when you have whales for entertainment.

We played Bingo and neither of us won. We went to lunch and sat with a nice couple from California where they were disembarking.

I updated the blog upstairs in the Pacific Lounge. It is so much faster up there than in the cabin.

Greg is nursing a bit of a cold, but so far, it’s not too bad. I did some shopping at the boutique and I’m sure they will replenish the stock for the world cruisers getting on in LA, but I got the last WC shirt in my size and they were out of Greg’s size in the color he wanted so he got his second choice. I really liked the light sweatshirt that I got in 2017 and hoped they would have them again for this cruise, but they had a fleece one instead. A bit heavier than I wanted but I got one. For some reason Princess gives men quite a few choices of colors and designs and women have one choice for t-shirts and 1 choice for the fleece. The t-shirts are coral and the jacket is pink. I said I have a WC 2017 and a South America tee and now a 2019 tee – all in coral. It looks like I am wearing the same shirt. In 2017 the sweatshirt did come in quite a few colors.

It was another formal night and there were only 3 of us again. One of the couples at the table doesn’t come on the formal nights (don’t wish to dress up) and DK’s husband was sleeping off a cold of his own. Super great dinner with the best escargot we have had on Princess in a long time. Lots of garlic in the butter. They also had our favorite asiago cheese & sesame seed rolls and the waiter brought a few extras for the table. Even the lobster was sweet and tasty.

The entertainment tonight was an impressionist named Greg London. We have seen him before and he does some really fun impressions. (singing many different artists’ songs) He ended the show with an upbeat song. He gave the audience a choice of a slow song or a fast one and we chose the fast one. If you want a chuckle just picture a bunch of us old people singing and dancing in our seats (some standing) to Uptown Funk. Yep, Uptown Funk you Up, Uptown Funk you Up….

Tonight’s game show was The Liars Club. Always fun to watch. Three of the cruise staff give a definition to an obscure word that normally sounds quite suggestive. You have to guess which one is telling the truth. We just played along and only got half of them.

Tomorrow, we have one more sea day until LA.
