Goshen Springs Campground - Brandon, Mississippi

September 19
Brandon is about 11 miles from Jackson which is the Capital of Mississippi.
We only had a short wait at the train tracks near the exit of the RV Park and we were on our way. We have finally found the heat. We have had pretty cool weather everywhere we have been so far, and now we are hitting the temps in the high 90's.

we left West Memphis, Arkansas and crossed over into Tennessee and then finally the Mississippi border

We arrived at the RV Park which is actually part of the Pearl River Valley Water Supply District and is the state agency created to construct and manage the 33,000-acre Barnett Reservoir and the 17,000 acres surrounding the lake.

it's a pretty good sized park and has boat access right in the park

We went for a walk around the neighborhood

On another note, we crossed over a narrow bridge on the way here and heard on the news the next morning that the road had been closed due to a truck accident. Here are the details from the paper:
"An 18-wheeler ended up in the Ross Barnett Reservoir when the driver swerved to avoid a head-on collision on Mississippi 43 Wednesday night.
The semi was northbound when a southbound pickup truck pulling a boat crossed into its path. The semi swerved to avoid the pickup, left the roadway, and overturned into the reservoir, according to a Mississippi Highway Patrol news release.
There was a pickup behind the semi, and it collided with the southbound pickup truck and both came to rest in the highway.
Authorities said there were no injuries in the incident.
The Mississippi Department of Transportation and the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality are still on scene Thursday morning. The 18-wheeler is owned by Averitt Trucking Company and was carrying 20,000 pounds of Nissan parts."
Tomorrow, we are headed out to visit the Capitol Buildings in Jackson.
