Sea Day – February 10

Sea Day – February 10

This morning I skipped walking the halls (weather is still too windy & rainy to walk the track) to attend the memorial for Judy. On the way to breakfast I ran into Charles and we hugged & talked about it. He is very lucky that he knows some people very well on the ship from previous cruises and it has been a huge support base for him. He spoke at the memorial and I admired his strength to get up and talk about her. He will be disembarking in Auckland. It was a very nice memorial.

They had a Sunday Brunch today and it was a Tropical theme. This time we went early since last time we waited until after Bingo and most everything was gone and they were tearing down tables around us. We were able to sit by ourselves, so we could eat quickly and still make Bingo. We didn’t win, but Greg came close on several of the games. After Bingo we went back and had a small amount of the lobster mac & cheese (it was very good) and grabbed some of the bananas dipped in the chocolate fountain.

I’m going to go upstairs and attempt to get photos uploaded. We are still having crappy weather, I’m sure that doesn’t help.

Internet was painfully slow, but the big excitement is that we now see land as the Captain backtracks back to Auckland. I now have phone data and am using that to try and get all the albums up for the last 3 ports. So, even if it’s slow I don’t care since it isn’t burning my shipboard internet minutes. Free is good!

We rushed a bit through dinner (just didn’t linger chatting with Rondi & Roy) so we could get decent seats for the show. The evening entertainment was another brand new production show called Crossing the Atlantic. (it was a montage of music from the British Invasion) Even though I like that music, I wasn’t overly fond of the show. The female lead singer is just not very good, and it was hard to even recognize the songs. The dancers are great, but not quite in synch with these new shows.

After that we went upstairs to the evening game show which was a family feud type game called Majority Rules. You don’t have to be right just align with the answer that most people said.

We should arrive in Auckland in the evening tomorrow. The Captain has gone way south of where we should be to avoid the worst of the storm and get into the protected area to head back up to Auckland.
